The Bryophyte Flora of Kaplandede Mountain (Düzce, Turkey)
In this study, the bryoflora of the Kaplandede Mountain was investigated between March and October 2009. After the identification of 625 bryophyte specimens collected from the research area, total of 122 taxa (99 mosses, 22 liverworts, 1 hornwort) were found. Among them according to the grid-square system of Henderson (1961) three liverwort taxa and
fifteen moss taxa are new records for A2 grid square. Cephaloziella dentata (Raddi) Steph. and Campylopus flexuosus (Hedw.) Brid. are recorded for the second time from Turkey. Two remarkable moss species, Orthotrichum scanicum Grönvall and Tortula brevissima Schiffn., were also collected from the study area.

The lichen genus Hypogymnia in Greenland
Six species of Hypogymnia are reported from Greenland. Hypogymnia incurvoides is added to the lichen flora of the area. Morphology, chemistry, distribution, habitat and ecology are discussed, and a key to the species is presented. Distribution maps of the species are given.

Two new Ascomycetes on twigs and leaves of Silver birches (Betula pendula) in Estonia
Cryptosporella betulae (Gnomoniaceae, Diaporthales) and Pleomassaria siparia (Pleomassariaceae, Pleosporales), the first both in teleo- and anamorphic (Disculina betulina), the second only in its anamorphic stage (Prosthemium betulinum) are recorded for the first time in Estonia. In summer 2008 first disease symptoms were observed; in summer 2009 C. betulae was identified as a new species and as an obvious pathogen, causing these symptoms on young Silver birches (Betula pendula). At the following winter both anamorphic fungi were found abundantly sporulating on thin branches and twigs, fallen into the snow from mature Silver birches. In May 2010 the teleomorphic C. betulae was first time recorded on the birch leaves, fallen last autumn. Pathogenicity of P. betulinum is still not known. Taxonomic relevance of the fungi together with the possible connection of the findings with the recent meteorological extremities in Estonia is shortly discussed.

42 species of genus Tricholoma (Agaricales, Agaricomycetes) have been recorded in Estonia. A checklist of these species with ecological, phenological and distribution data is presented.

Lichens on burnt wood in Estonia: a preliminary assessment
According to available published, herbarium and recent inventory data at least 48 (and potentially over 80) species of lichenized and allied fungi can inhabit burnt areas and/or charred wood in Estonia. Most of these are widespread epiphytes and terrestrial lichens but the list also includes all five species considered ‘fire-dependent’ in Fennoscandia. Future studies should assess the specificity of species for charred wood, and analyse the features that make it a quality habitat for lichen species.

New lichen species from Tristan da Cunha and Gough Island
Seven lichen species from Tristan da Cunha and Gough Islands are described as new to science: Caloplaca austroatlantica, Gyalidea goughensis, Massalongia griseolobulata, Sticta tesselata, Szczawinskia phylicae, Tephromela rimosula, and Thelotrema tristanense.

Family Clavariachaetaceae (Basidiomycota, Hymenochaetales), two its genera Clavariachaete and Dichochaete, and all four very rare species distributed in South America are described.

Mycological collections of Fedor (Theodor) Bucholtz
The well-known taxonomist of hypogeous fungi Fedor Bucholtz (29 Oct 1872 – 30 April 1924) was born in War- saw; after studies in Moscow University (1891–1895) he was a professor of botany in Riga Polytechnic Institute (1897–1919) and Tartu University. The rich herbarium of fungi collected by him was partly destroyed during World War I or lost when evacuated to Russia; it partly found a new home in the Farlow Herbarium of the Harvard University in the USA. In the Herbarium EAA of the Estonian University of Life Sciences (Tartu, Estonia) there are 2419 specimens collected by him. In 2010, among old unordered collections of microfungi about 650 specimens, collected possibly by Bucholtz were found in the herbarium TAAM in Tartu. There are 457 specimens (383 species) in tiny envelopes of similar size and paper. This is possibly Bucholtz´s collection of reference specimens (assembled from larger samples of identified species) he kept with him during his enforced travels. A list of this collection is appended to this paper.

Fedor Bucholtz, mycologist and his herbarium
Beginning shortly after the death of Fedor Bucholtz in 1924 correspondence was initiated by Roland Thaxter with Alexander Bucholz, mycologist Fedor Bucholtz’s son, concerning the purchase of his father’s herbarium and library. This began an exchange that lasted for six years and resulted in the purchase of the library and part of the herbarium of Fedor Bucholtz for the Farlow Reference Library and Herbarium of Cryptogamic Botany. About 5200 specimens and about 800 books and reprints were received. These purchases are documented through correspondence, which also throws light on the difficulties Bucholtz and his family endured in the wake of World War 1.

New records of lichens and allied fungi from the Leningrad Region, Russia
Twelve species of lichenized and two lichenicolous fungi, and one non-lichenized calicioid fungus are reported from the Leningrad Region (Eastern, Western or Saint-Petersburg). Lecanora norvegica and Opegrapha lamyi are reported for the first time for Russia. Six taxa are also new to the whole Leningrad Region; four, Lecidella flavosorediata, Ochrolechia bahusiensis, Phaeocalicium praecedens and Tremella lichenicola – to North-Western European Russia, and one, the anamorphic lichen Dictyocatenulata alba is new to European Russia. Brief discussions on the species are included.

The lichen biota of three nature reserves in island Saaremaa, Estonia
A description of the lichen biota of three nature reserves – Kaugatoma-Lõo, Odalätsi and Viieristi reserves in Saaremaa island, Estonia is presented. In total 404 species are listed, of them 228 are recorded from Kaugatoma-Lõo, 169 from Odalätsi and 167 from Viieristi reserves. The composition of the lichen biota of the reserves reflects the availability of habitats (alvar grasslands, sand dunes, different types of forests) in the area. The share of rare and protected species is the highest in Kaugatoma-Lõo reserve because of the rare in Estonia habitats (thin calcium-rich soils) and substrata (lignum of old, dead junipers). Ramalina elegans, previously considered as extinct in Estonia, was re-found from Odalätsi and Viieristi reserves.

Some sterile Caloplaca crusts identified by molecular data from the Leningrad region (Russia)
Four samples of sterile Caloplaca crusts (Teloschistaceae, lichenized fungi) were determined on the basis of their ITS nrDNA sequences. The samples, collected in NW Russia, mainly from Kotlin Island, Baltic Sea, belong to three species, C. dichroa, C. obscurella and C. phlogina, the first and last species being new to north-western European Russia and to Leningrad region.

New and rare lichen records from the Central Siberian Biosphere Reserve (Krasnoyarsk Krai, Russia)
19 species of lichens and allied fungi are recorded from Central Siberian Biosphere Reserve (Middle Yenisey River, Krasnoyarsk Krai, Russia). Bacidia rosellizans and Catinaria neuschildii are new to Asia; Caloplaca concilians and Rimularia furvella are new to the Asian Part of Russia; Chaenothecopsis epithallina and C. nigra are new to Siberia.
